Hey everyone, I'm having difficulty finding info about bench swings. I see benches that have backrest and seating coming at an angle. Some seats are parallel to the ground, while some have their front raised a little bit.

In case anyone else is interested, they recommend a 3-5 degree angle on the back and 18-22" seat. I start woodworking class next week, so hopefully in another 10 weeks or so I'll have a bench to add to my new kitchen. :
If you are anticipating that people will be sitting for long periods, consider sloping the actual seat about 1 lower in the back over the 16 width . It's subtle but makes a noticeable difference. But this should only be done if you are including a back to your bench. It wont look right without a back.

Some people have a natural arc in their back when the press, if it is too much of an arc, and the bench is set at 30 degrees, then in actuality, the chest is more at a 10-15 degree angle which does not place a lot of emphasis on the upper pec. The seat angle from the floor was 0 to 5 degrees. Add the two together and you have the back angle to the floor. I asked my father years ago what the standard dimensions were for a dining chair. He said. "When you find one that's comfortable. Copy it.". Hope that helps.

You dont need a tall incline to make an incline bench press a great upper chest movement. 15-30 degrees is about right for most people. God know front delts are the most abused body-part and making the incline bench just another front delt move is surely not the intent of doing inclines for most people.
